New banner?

I am going to try to make this my blog banner. We'll see if it actually works. :-S

ETA: After a bit of wrestling with the code, I managed it! Woo!

Too many interesting projects!

I'm in the middle of my bluebell silk clapotis. I finished one fingerless mitten which may have to be ripped out because it is too big - the left mitten is coming along much better, albeit slowly. I am nearly done with one Opal sock - just the foot section and toe decreases remain.

I want to make:
A bag - probably Kristin's favourite carry-all
A swimsuit cover-up - probably something simliar to this but now I'm leaning more towards doing something similar in a tank-dress style
A baby dress - probably Knitty's Anouk
A tank top - no specific ideas yet. But the Sugar'n Cream cotton yarn is calling my name.

There are two concerns here - time and money. Ideally, I'd have the tank top and swimsuit cover up before my jaunt to Aruba in mid-July. The baby is only 4 months old, and the pattern goes up to 18 months, so there's no actual rush there. But it's a cute dress and I really am good friends with the mother and would love the chance to make a baby project. The bag....oh, the bag! It would need to be a pretty rugged wool to stand up to regular use. The yarn the pattern calls for would cost me $70 for the whole project...that's a bit steep for me right now. There is the temptation to have that for Aruba also, but it's a rather wintery style. There is a beach bag on Knitty that looks attractive too, but it's not necessary in theory. There are lots of nice beach bags to buy.

But I need to finish my current projects too!

Christmas is over!

I have finished my Christmas knitting! I finished them a few days ago, and luckily I was able to go overtime because I haven't met with the recipients yet! I will post pictures later, also of the Opal sock I am knitting. I love the self-striping! I'm just a bit miffed that the photo of the sock they provided with the pattern for the Opal socks doesn't actually match the pattern! The heel is a simple heel-flap one that is turned at the bottom. The picture is not that...I don't know what type of heel it is, but it's the kind I wanted to try! I'll just have to wait for my sock book to arrive to try that kind.
