Star Wars update
I have finished the lightsabre handles. I am now two rows into the 'may the force be with you' bit. So far it's not as bad as I thought it was going to be. This is a Good Thing. It requires a lot of attention - this is not one that can occupy your idle thoughts while you watch something interesting on the tv. It's more like a keep-something-mindless-on tv-while-your-main-attention-is-on-the-knitting. Of course, the television doesn't have to be on at all...but in my current environment, that is not possible.
Ravenclaw is moving along nicely as well - halfway done with the 6th stripe. :)
Note to self...
Plastic knitting needles are VILE. You don't like them. You like metal. The £1.75 you spent on crappy needles could have been put to better use...like, halfway to a decent set of needles. Next time, no amount of impatience to start a project is going to tempt you to buy something you don't like.
(The Star Wars scarf has begun, BTW....)
Basketweave Scarf

Basketweave scarf

This has been put on hold until Christmas is over. It's in a microfibre yarn and is luxuriously soft. Looking back, I think I would have preferred it to be skinny rectangles rather than squares.
Silk Yarn

Silk for a clapotis

I can't wait to start knitting with this. It's so soft and beautiful and I think it's going to make a great clapotis. I have ordered some more in a Red-Pink-Salmon multi for one for my mother.
Sock yarn

Lorna's Laces

This is going to make a fantastic pair of socks. It's self-striping...I've ordered the appropriate sized needles, but I don't think I'll start until I finish the Christmas projects.
Hogwarts sock pair 1, sock 1

Hogwarts Sock Pair 1, # 1.

This is coming along slowly because I've been busy with the Ravenclaw scarf. But it will come...
Ravenclaw Scarf

Ravenclaw Scarf

Here is the Ravenclaw Scarf as it is so far. You will see the handy little device that has saved my sanity with this project - a dangling stitch counter. I thought I was going to go crazy keeping a piece of paper around to mark each of the 22 rows contained in each stripe.
Project Overload
The Ravenclaw scarf is officially On The Needles. It's the first time I'm using ciruclar needles and it's going well, the bastard first row nonwithstanding. I bought some black and white yarn for the Star Wars scarf but I can't start that yet! I spent most of yesterday knitting mini hats for the
Innocent Drinks hats for charity. I have six. I will be posting pictures once I dig out my camera. They are adorable! There are too many things I want to do though...I need to find time for all of them. I would like to do
Knitty's Clapotis after Christmas as a possible pressie for my mother. The yarn they suggest is absolutely gorgeous but at £16 per 100 grams, it may be a bit rich for me. I'd be willing to pay money for nice stuff, but for one project I can't see paying £48! Not at the moment, anyway. It isn't any cheaper from the US either...$30 per hank. I wouldn't mind spending half that, and with all the nice stuff I see in John Lewis' I'm sure I can find something nice.
It's been a while...
My knitting has languished a bit in the past two weeks. It's been a very busy time, however I hope to get myself back on track. I went to the local Stitch 'n Bitch meeting on Sunday and made lots of progress on Gryffindor sock #1. I am actually going to be in the local paper this week or next as well for knitting in public! I have lots of peace and quiet tonight, so I'm going to stay off the internet and knit!
